A glimpse at the praise for Pat Mulloy that attendees will hear at the 2018 Bellarmine University "Knight of Knights" gala on Oct. 12.

Bellarmine University will "knight" W. Patrick Mulloy at the university's annual Knight of Knights black-tie dinner on Friday, October 12, at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.

Knight of Knights began in 1998 as a way to honor members of the community who have supported Bellarmine University. The event also recognizes President’s Society members who make gifts of $1,500 or more to benefit Bellarmine students.

Pat MulloyMulloy, who completed a six-year term as chairman of Bellarmine's Board of Trustees last year, has enjoyed a successful career as a health care executive, attorney and public official. He is currently of counsel with the law firm Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs.

As a Bellarmine trustee since 2007, and as the board’s chairman from 2011 to 2017, Mulloy has been an instrumental force in Bellarmine’s growth and its emergence as the premier independent Catholic university in the south and the leading private university in Kentucky and the region. He guided the university through a period of transition following the 2016 death of longtime Bellarmine president Joseph J. McGowan. Under his leadership, the trustees conducted a national search for the university’s fourth president, Dr. Susan Donovan.

At the university's spring 2017 commencement ceremony, he received an honorary doctoral degree and delivered the commencement address.

Mulloy earned his bachelor’s degree and law degree from Vanderbilt University. He began his career as an attorney in private practice, and is licensed to practice in Kentucky and New York. He served former Kentucky Gov. Brereton Jones as the state’s finance secretary before becoming president and CEO of Atria Senior Living in 1996.

In 2006, Mulloy co-founded Elmcroft Senior Living, serving as its chief executive officer until earlier this year.
