Summer may be upon us, but campus is still bustling with activity.

Last week, 38 Kentucky high school students were on campus attending the Business & Accounting Summer Education Camp (BASE Camp), presented by the Kentucky Society of CPAs.

As part of the program, students staying on campus met successful business leaders, learned about accounting and participated in mock interviews. They also toured Papa John’s headquarters, Churchill Downs and several local CPA firms -- Ernst & Young; Mountjoy Chilton Medley LLP; Harding, Shymanski & Company, P.S.C.; and Strothman and Company. Their main activity was a challenge to create and market new products to be judged by Papa John’s staff.

Also on campus last week were approximately 130 high school students participating in the Kentucky Governor's Cup summer camp. These students attended classes designed to help them succeed in Governor’s Cup Quick Recall, written assessment and future problem solving competitions.

Upcoming events for children and teens on campus:
  • Governor’s Cup summer camp for middle school students, June 19 to 22
  • Ignite Your Torch Catholic youth conference, July 12 to 15
  • Kentucky American Choral Directors Association Summer Choral Conservatory for high school sophomores through seniors, July 13 to 15
  • Summer youth camps offered by Bellarmine's School of Continuing and Professional Studies
  • Summer sports camps offered by Bellarmine University Athletics.
